Cody Sopp
Owner & Operator, Sopp Services
Cody is a lifelong resident of York, Pennsylvania, and a proud single father. After earning his associate’s degree in business management at York Technical Institute, he had plans to get into a management position before opening up his own business. But life had other plans, and Cody ended up working a warehouse job, toiling away while dreaming of bigger things.
His aspirations nagged at him, and a short time later Cody found himself working on a property, repairing damage from mold, water, and fire.
Part of this process involved cleaning the carpets and restoring the floors, and his skills started building out from there. The wet floor led to unclogging the drain or fixing the pipe that caused the leak. Waxing and stripping floors grew into replacing tile or matching new wood to the original.
As Cody expanded his knowledge and skill set on the side, necessity demanded a “regular job”, and he spent time working for a nation-wide plumbing service. But, as the Covid pandemic settled across the country, something inside Cody changed. Maybe it was the inconsistent hours, or perhaps the need to take more control over his future. Maybe it was Cody’s entrepreneurial spirit, something that had been with him since mowing neighborhood lawns as a kid.
Whatever the cause, one day in 2021 Cody decided to take a leap. He made a six thousand dollar investment into a professional carpet cleaner, and Sopp Services was born.
Like most success stories, Sopp Services started small. Cody took his carpet cleaner and started compiling a tight list of clients that included family and friends. He added his business profile to Google, and started picking up new clients in the area. This allowed him to start placing local ads, building his clientele and creating positive relationships with satisfied customers.
Soon, that professional carpet cleaner had to share space with a floor buffer. And as Cody’s client list grew, so did the services he offered. The cleaning jobs for friends and family became large jobs for commercial properties. And as Sopp Services grew, so did Cody’s knowledge & business acumen.
Today, Sopp Services focuses on small specialty work and larger commercial projects. His goal is to be the person you call when you don’t want to deal with a large company or their prices. Replacing floorboards, patching carpet, tile waxing or stripping, these are the services Cody provides that most large companies either overlook or ignore.
